Burglary advice |

Hello,
Here are some handy tips to try and keep your home safe and secure during the warm weather. Please keep doors and windows closed when leaving your property even when inside and not using a room, either lock it or use lockable window restrictors which can prevent access. If you have a house alarm please use it and switch on outside lights when it gets dark. Keep laptops, phones and other valuables out of sight from doors and windows, and close blinds to stop opportunist looking into your property. Don’t leave keys under doormats or plant pots When you are out keeping a light on inside or buy a timer this can operate lights or a radio giving burglars the impression somebody is home. Lock away ladders, tools, gardening equipment and bins if possible to prevent them from being used to gain entry to the home and please put a padlock on your shed / garage to protect property inside. If you are going on holiday avoid posting about your trip until you return to prevent publicising your home is empty. Keep burglars out of your property | West Midlands Police
